Our Team

Carey has always been in the steel business for 20+ years. While completing his Drafting and Design Technical Certification in high school, he was given an opportunity to co-op with a small steel detailing company. After a year and a half of learning the basics and learning to detail structural/miscellaneous steel, he moved on to the PEMB world where he spent the next 13 years. Starting in January of 2000 working in the drafting department of a local PEMB, Carey began to build his knowledge of metal building design and detail. He moved up the ranks to managing their drafting department as well as managing the multiple sublet drafting firms to produce shop drawings for a 50-man fabrication shop. Given the opportunity to leave the drafting department and move to project management, Carey took it. He spent the next four years working as a PM for the Company’s largest clients. Following the branch’s unexpected closure in 2013, he declined a transfer to a sister company and invested his savings and full-time effort to the start D.E.S. As an owner, he started from the ground up…spending the majority of this time in fabrication, working hand in hand with the helpers and welders of D.E.S. This exposure coupled with his drafting background and project management experience has enabled him to be a well-rounded operator and well positioned to resolve most any issues that may arise within a steel company’s business.
